Megan (Blackshire) Bryant
Coach Megan (Blackshire) Bryant returns for her second season at LBVBC. A LBVBC alumna who enjoyed a stellar playing career, Coach Megan joins the numerous other alumni who have returned to guide the new generation of players looking to become the best volleyball players that they can be.
As a player, Coach Megan experienced success at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. While a player at LBVBC, Coach Megan was a member of two National Championship teams (1998, 2002) with fellow coach, Katy Daly. She experienced similar success at San Clemente High School Team where she helped guide her team to a CIF Title in 2001. In her senior season she was named league Co-MVP with teammate Coach Katy Daly.
Following a successful club and high school playing career, Coach Megan attended and competed at UC Santa Barbara. While there she excelled both on the court and in the classroom. On the court she was the Big West Co-Freshman of the Year (2002), named to the All-Big West First Team three times (2003, 2004, 2005), earned All-West Region Honors for four consecutive years (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005), and captained her team in her senior season. Off the court she was a member of the Big West All-Academic Team for three years (2003, 2004, 2005) and was named the Big West Scholar Athlete of the Year (2005). In 2005 Coach Megan also earned the Arthur Ashe Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence. In 2010 she received the distinguished honor of being named to the UCSB Women's All-Decade Team.
Prior to joining the LBVBC coaching staff, Coach Megan was a member of the Tri Counties Volleyball Club in Santa Barbara, CA. where she coached at the 16 & under age level. Most recently, she spent the past season coaching at the 14 & under age level.
Coach Megan received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Society with an emphasis in Criminal Justics from UCSB. Currently, she also coaches at St. Mary's School in Aliso Viejo.
